Sorry if this is in the wrong place!School are concerned my 7yr old son is a bit autisticHe is very intelligent for his age and reads perfectly, his writing however is not so good. He knows what he wants to write about but thinks in such detail he can't get it on the paper. He has to be constantly 'prodded' in class as he is off in 'Ellis world' ashes teacher calls it.I've got a book from the library and these are the things that apply to himHe used to head bang as a baby, now he does hit himself in the head sometimes but not oftenAs a toddler he was obsessed with his toy Hoover, literally obsessedHe is always making funny noises, the book calls it stimmingHe has sleep problems, he would ideally read til 11pm each night but obviously I don't allow this as he is just 7, with no book he still won't sleepHe throws really bad tantrums, mainly when the tv/Wii has to go offHehas always been 'different' to our daughter, he is almost eccentric we say he is 7 going on 67 as he is interested in different things to other kids, though recently he has got very in to harry potter. I'm still reading online, but do you think this is enough to get a referral?

HiI think you need to ask your GP for a referral to a paediatrition. Did he have delayed speech as that is normally a key attribute? How is he socially with other children? I always say to go with your instinct, despite my son developing normally until 18 months I knew something was wrong by the age of 2.Hope this helps
