Hi I am mom to Louie aged 6 who has a working diagnosos of aspergers. We have just experienced our 2nd difficult xmas. Can anyone offer any advice as to how they get through the festivities without it turning into a war zone. Last year he hated all of his presents. We had got him what he asked for, but 1 week before the big day he changed his mind about most things, and even when we explained that because he had already written to Santa and Santa would have got him these things that he couldn't change his mind. Every present he got he screamed about it been wrong. We got the presents right this year, but when he wanted to play one of his games, he wouldn't co-operate and wanted to dictate the rules to us, this wasn't possible because of the game and again ended up in me been shouted at and told that he hates me!!! Not very nice as you can imagine. How do other people out there cope with the day, the preperation and the tantrums. I am beginning to loathe xmas and am glad it is all over. Help!!

HiTry a Social Story? or a Picture Board? They help predict what will happen and allieviate the anxiety most children with ASD/Aspergers feel when events happen which are not in their routine.Catherine
