Hello! My name is Maria Rothes and I am completing a master’s in Child Development at University College London’s Institute of Education. I am looking for people who would like to participate in my research project exploring the role of stress in the lives of autistic adolescents/young adults.

Why are we doing this research?
We are interested in understanding the experiences of stress in the lives of autistic children and young people (CYP) in the UK, activities and strategies that help CYP disengage from problems and the types of formal and informal support CYP find helpful in times of stress. Even though stress is one of the main issues facing the autism community, affecting individuals, families and carers, little research has looked in depth at the experience of stress in people with autism.

      What is required?
Taking photos and discuss situations, activities and people that cultivate unhappy/stressful and happy/comfortable/safe feelings in everyday life.

      Who is eligible to participate?
Autistic children and young people aged between 9 to 25 years old.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the research, you can contact me using the details below. Thank you in advance for your help and interest in this project.
